- August 26, 2011.
Will be playing the keys at
AdMiRe 2011 | Adorable Mixed Realities
to back up Peter Francks.
Also might get the chance to team up on stage with Broadway artist
Tamra Hayden and maybe
even perform one of my own songs with her. Looking forward!
- August 22, 2010.
Laura thinks the final mix of "May It Be"
sounds great, so this cover has received the
green light for recording!
- August 16, 2010.
Finished arranging my own version of "May It Be"
for Laura. I haven't changed much to the style of
the song, but did add lots of layers for a big
build toward the end, just the way I like it!
- August 08, 2010.
In my ongoing strive to collaborate with talented
singers (on YouTube), I've today come in contact
with Laura Taylor who sings in a different style
from what I've done on YouTube so far, but it's a
style that I very much like as well. As a first
collaboration we will be taking on Enya's amazing
"May It Be" from the well-known "Lord Of The Rings"
movies.
- July 03, 2010.
Geanie has been singing in a local competition in
San Diego in the last few weeks and made it through
the first two rounds singing the two songs we
previously did on YouTube. Today, she was in the
finals, singing a medley of "The Power Of Love" and
"My Life Would Suck Without You", which I arranged
real quick in the past week by sleeping very
little. Unfortunately, she didn't win, but because
of my trip to the USA for my work and my vacation
there, I actually got to meet her on this day in
person, which more than made up for losing the
finals we both worked so hard on. So it was
champagne anyway and memories to last a lifetime...
- June 04, 2010.
Uploaded my fifth YouTube cover today: "I Will
Always Love You", featuring Geanie. For a change,
this time it's a LIVE performance on both ends and
not a fully composed cover. The final video
consists of me playing the song in one go, mixed
with Geanie singing it, also in one go. Again, we
are both very excited about the result!
- May 11, 2010.
Finished writing a new original! Inspired by my
newfound musical connection and collaboration with
Geanie I have been composing again. I tried a few
things and one idea spiraled into a really nice
movie-sized, yet popular sounding half-uptempo song
called "Broken". I think it will sound really great
when combined with a powerful voice.
- May 01, 2010.
Uploaded my fourth YouTube cover today: "When I
Look At You", featuring Geanie. She's recorded the
vocals at Monolith Studios in San Diego and what a
top notch performance she has delivered. Amazing!
We are both very pleased with the result of our
team effort.
- April 13, 2010.
Geanie was really pleased with my work on "When I
Look At You" so this cover has received the green
light for recording!
- April 12, 2010.
Finished arranging my own version of "When I Look
At You" for Geanie. I've changed a few things to
try and get a bigger build-up and make way for
Geanie's gigantic voice.
- March 31, 2010.
I've been browsing YouTube because after my first
three covers I'd like to really collaborate
beforehand rather than that I synchronize an
existing YouTube recording. While I'm still
searching for a singer for "Somewhere Over The
Rainbow", I've found a amazingly talented singer
that today positively replied to my invitation to
collaborate: Geanie. As a first collaboration she
has suggested/requested to cover "When I Look At
You" by Miley Cyrus.
- March 28, 2010.
Uploaded my third YouTube cover today: "What A
Wonderful World", featuring MB-3.
- March 13, 2010.
Finished covering the magical song: "Somewhere Over
The Rainbow". It's turned into an interesting mix
of Indian/Reggae/Disney/IZ and of course myself!
It's got a real positive vibe that I just love. Now
I need to find someone to sing it!
- March 2, 2010.
Uploaded my second YouTube cover today: "Where
Peaceful Waters Flow", featuring Chris de Burgh
himself. I so hope he doesn't mind I uploaded this!
- February 9, 2010.
Its my YouTube debut today: "Leaving On A Jet
Plane", featuring Kellie Woods! :)
- February 8, 2010.
I finally gathered up the courage and spent the
last two weeks in the mornings before going to work
shooting my first music video. I shot myself
playing different parts in the arrangement I made
for "Leaving On A Jet Plane" and mixed it together
with the original YouTube video by Kellie Woods.
Great news is that Kellie likes it too, so now I
get to put myself on YouTube for the first time.
- January 31, 2010.
Covered one of my all-time favorites: "What a
Wonderful World". I must have played this song
hundreds of times in the past. Although there is no
way I can even begin to match that unforgettable
recording by Louis Armstrong, I started from the
heart and made my own version and found a YouTube
version by MB-3 (mbdash3) for the singing part; yet
another amazing singing performance. Gotta love
YouTube!
- January 15, 2010.
Through my girlfriend I really got to know the
music of Chris de Burgh some 10 years ago. Turns
out I'm much like him in the sense of story telling
through your music. I recognize a lot in his style
and really love many of his songs. Before I started
on "Leaving on a Jet Plane" I was figuring out the
chords to some of his songs and started to work on
my own version of "Where Peaceful Waters Flow". I
stopped working on it for a while, and then started
with "Leaving on a Jet Plane". But I found this
great acoustic performance by Chris de Burgh of
"Where Peaceful Waters Flow" on YouTube with a big
choir, so I just had to finish that song! This is
my second YouTube cover, and this time I worked
with the original artist :) Although I'm not sure
whether this spells trouble if I ever make a video
to put back on YouTube, copyright-wise...
- December 3, 2009.
I contacted Kellie Woods and she was really happy
with my work! Great stuff! Now all I need to do is
to complete the circle and make my own video to put
on YouTube. I've never made a video before though,
so it might take a while before I get to that.
Also, my job is going to be killing me the coming
weeks/months, so working on my music in the few
hours that I get the chance in the coming time is
something I'd rather do until I have some more time
to shoot the video.
- December 1, 2009.
Finished covering "Leaving On A Jet Plane"! I'm
really taken with the end result. It's my very
first YouTube cover and my very first time working
with someone singing the lead instead of
me playing the lead myself.
- November 5, 2009.
I always loved "Leaving On A Jet Plane" by John
Denver. I saw him perform on TV when I was very
young and I was captivated by how this man was just
one with this song. I found a very talented artist
on YouTube singing his song: Kellie Woods. Although
she writes that she is covering Chantal Kreviazuk's
version from the movie Armageddon, which is of
course a cover itself, she sings with a passion
that I just love!
- November 1, 2009.
I've taken up an old hobby, making arrangement for
existing songs, but this time with a twist. I pick
songs that I always loved or are special to me for
some reason and then make my very own version,
meaning an arrangement that fits with how I hear
and feel the song in my head. Also, I'd really like
to work with talented singers for a change, i.e.
instead of going fully instrumental like I usually
do. Because I don't know any singers myself I
thought of something a colleague once said to
me:"Everything is on YouTube nowadays!". So I'll be
looking for people that sing (acoustically) the
songs I love in a way that speaks to me and
time-synchronize that with my arrangement, et
voilą!
- June 25, 2009.
One of the saddest days in my life for the greatest
artist of all time and a major influence in my own
musical history has passed away. There wasn't an
artist ever that lived and breathed music like he
did. Michael simply was music. I had
tickets to go see him LIVE once more in London like
I once did in Amsterdam. Rest in peace Michael, you
will never be forgotten.
- June 13, 2009.
New beginnings! I finally wrote a new song again,
the first since finishing the "Journey to
Salvation" CD. The name of the new song is
"Forbidden Dreams" and it is about two people that
want to be together, but tragically this isn't
possible, they are not allowed.
- December 25, 2008.
"Journey to Salvation" has been released!
- December 01, 2008.
Moved my official music website to a trusted (and
paid) webhost: new online beginnings with far more
possibilities, like a flash music player!
- November 29, 2008.
I have completed the CD design. The manufacturing
process of the "Journey to Salvation" CD has been
initiated.
- September 24, 2008.
Recording, mixing and mastering of "Journey to
Salvation" is complete. CD design has started.
- August 01, 2007.
Recording, mixing and mastering of "Journey to
Salvation" has started in the Mysteries Studio.
- June 20, 2007.
I finally finished the list of song names for
"Journey to Salvation". There will be 16 songs. In
chronological order they are: Tanja's Song, The
Dance of the Angels, Star Voyager, The Final
Battle, Journey to Salvation, Stride of the
Unicorn, Fields of Eternity, Extreme Velocity,
Symbiosis Magnifica, Lullaby of Wonderland,
Timescape, Freedom, Shattered Romance, Twilight
Illusion, The Proud Walk, Live Your Dreams.
- June 04, 2007.
Exactly nine years after the release of
"Mysteries", I have finally decided upon the title
for my next CD: "Journey to Salvation". Currently,
I am still writing and composing new songs.
